Подозреваю, что Кипр - рай для энтомолога. Каждую неделю ко мне забредают какие-то насекомые, и каждый раз разные и в основном не виденные мной ранее. Какие-то многоножки, жучки, паучки и медведицы. А сегодня на улице такая животинка повстречалась.

PR-служба режиссера Алана Бадоева распространяет сенсационную новость о том, что некая арабская певица Madeleine Matar выпустила клип, содранный с видео группы Инь-Ян "Сохрани меня": "...Украли не только идею видеоклипа, но даже декорации и раскадровки".

При этом PR-служба умалчивает, что сам клип "Сохрани меня" был довольно беззастенчиво срисован со старого рекламного ролика парфюма "Escape" с участием Милы Йовович.

There's nothing like a blizzard to kick off Christmas - NOT!

Mother Nature is this year's Grinch. So far 5 inches of snow along with 20mph winds = a not-so-pleasant Christmas. Lucky me, I get to work dark & early this Christmas morning. It was exhausting walking the four blocks through the snow drifts to get to work. My ankles are still sore, and I feel like an old woman. Thankfully, I was still able to enjoy the Christmas Eve oyster stew supper last night with a few family members and friends of the family. The presents will have to wait until Sunday when (hopefully) my family can get together - pending the blizzard.

I couldn't fall asleep so I decided to finally start my Harry Potter series re-read (I think this is only my 4th re-read, it's been a while), and I got a highlighter (neon blue because Patronus' glow blue, duh) and my mechanical pencil (jfc if I still had the HP pen I stole at Zellers way back when I'd fucking use it right now) and some post-it tabs. And... It hit me that I'd spoil my future children if I jotted notes down on the sides and highlighted things and put little tabs that had "go to this page/book for further reference" and shit like that. Needless to say I had to stop myself, because what kind of parent would I be if I ruined their magical adventure with The Boy-Who-Lived. Ngl, I thought I was fucking adorable, I'm going to be an awesome mom, I just know it.

This series helped me understand English - the first book was released when I immigrated to Canada. It has a lot of special meaning to me. I don't claim it to be a great literary book or anything, but I call bullshit on anyone who has ever phrased anything like "omg it's just a book" or "omg it's just a tv show" --- you don't have to be a stan to think it's beyond its label. And I pity anyone who doesnt know what it feels like to care about something passionately. When people call people nerds, mostly what they’re saying is ‘you like stuff.’ Which is just not a good insult at all. Like, ‘you are too enthusiastic about the miracle of human consciousness’. I probably haven't ever mentioned how much I ADORE Joanne Rowling, it's a quiet admiration, I think my guy best friend is the only one who really knows, and he spams me with HP stuff and sends me a picture of finding a "CURCIO" license plate at his campus parking lot. Anyway I saw her "A Year in a Life" special in 2007, that she did during the time she finished Deathly Hallows, and the documentary was coming to a close and J.K. takes the film crew to her old flat in Edinburgh -- where she started writing Harry Potter -- and she breakdowns, she goes into her old bedroom - and to her surprise she points to the bookshelf and there are Harry Potter books. And she's just in awe, that was just one of the most humbling things I've ever seen, I went from respect to complete adoration in that second. ♡♡♡

I am kicking myself for throwing out my Harry Potter memorabilias. I had an awesome journal where I wrote all my secrets, hopes, and dreams -- in invisible ink (really it was just lemon juice, and you'd put a candle or lighter underneath to burn the paper, and the word's show up!) and I really want that part of myself back. If I had a Time-Turner...

Kind of the same, but have you guys ever read the Artemis Fowl series? My second favourite young adults literature after HP. I am kind of stoked there's definite talk on a movie adaptation (for like forever, omg). It boogles me it didn't take off like HP and has a very small fanbase - I've only heard good things from the critics, and for a young adult novel I think it's actually better than HP in terms of plot-driven scenarios. Which is actually why Twilight irritates me, because it's so fucking sad when poorly written publication/movies garner more attention than something of actual quality.

Кекс не мой, я просто разместил на тарелке.

Яблоки с изюмом и корицей (часть с сахаром, часть с медом) - моего производства, спасибо Мальдини за вдохновение.

Ну и главное - глинтвейн тоже мой, поскольку в здешнем магазине не нашлось ни готового для разогрева в бутылке, ни даже набора специй для глинтвейна в пакетике, так что пришлось все делать самому. В ~150 мл воды добавил специи (корица, гвоздика, перец, часть сахара) и вскипятил на медленном огне. После минуты кипячения (в интернете кое-где советуют 5-7 минут, фиг поймешь) выключил и оставил постоять около 10 минут. Перелил в кружку, процедив через марлю.

Поставил кастрюлю на огонь, налил красное вино, процеженный отвар из специй (+ палочки корицы оттуда), еще немного гвоздики, сок половины лимона, сок половины апельсина (крупного), немножко цедры, изюм, несколько кусочков яблока и вишню, которая оказалась черешней (плохо не знать греческий язык)). И забыл добавить сахар, исправился уже после того как попробовал)

Как известно, кипятить глинтвейн нельзя - надо довести до максимальной точки, когда пошел парок и появились первые признаки пузырьков. Выключить и дать настояться (а заодно немного остыть). Получилось вроде очень даже неплохо)

P.S. К сожалению, шоколадный Санта-Клаус не дожил до сегодняшнего дня. После моего непростительного поведения вчера ночью от него остался только колокольчик (см. фото). Помним, любим, скорбим.

Я такой старый, что еще помню времена, когда "Аватар" назывался "Покахонтас".

Особенности пафосского кинопроката:

- 3D досюда еще не добрался (воистину, чем ближе к природе - тем дальше от цивилизации), поэтому "Аватар" пришлось смотреть в 2D, что, видимо, все равно что целоваться в противогазе.

- Фильмы крутят на английском с греческими субтитрами, что хорошо, но когда синие человечки начинают говорить на своем языке, остаются только греческие субтитры, что плохо.

- Самое потрясающее: на протяжении фильма два раза (два раза!) был антракт. То бишь на экране появлялась цветастенькая надпись "Intermission" (мне сразу вспомнился Монти Пайтон), загорался свет, открывались двери, чтобы поесть или наоборот, и потом после пары трейлеров (!) фильм продолжался.

P.S. Финальные титры вырубили почти в самом начале, поэтому посмотреть "вырезанные сцены", как советовал yasviridov, не удалось.

Сделала последний на эту зиму химический пилинг. Завершающий аккорд пяти недель беспрестанного мучения шелушения оказался настолько сильным и болезненным, что, честно говоря, не знаю, что завтра утром мне покажут в зеркале..
Фильм ужасов, я подозреваю.
